2. The charity was originally called the National Children’s Home, or NCH, until September 2008 when the name was changed to one that better describes what the charity does and values – Action for Children.
3. Action for Children helps nearly 170,000 children, young people and their families through nearly 450 projects across the UK.
4. Action for Children promotes social justice by lobbying and campaigning for change.
5. Today, Action for Children is the leading UK provider of family and community centres, children's services in rural areas, services for disabled children and their families, and services for young people leaving care.
6. The charity provides services in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and also supports work in Southern Africa, the Caribbean and Central America.

8. January 2009 marked the first time in 140 years that Action for Children has invested in promotion of the charity’s work.
